Kubel in RF, batting fifth (Game 99 vs. Tigers)

MINNEAPOLIS — Jason Kubel was activated from the disabled list last night, and is back in the starting lineup tonight against the Tigers, playing right field and batting fifth.

Kubel, who sprained his left foot in Detroit on May 30, missed 47 games with the injury but finally is making his long-awaited return after missing seven weeks.

He brings a powerful left-handed hitting bat into the lineup, as he was the club’s most consistent hitter before his injury, hitting .310/.355/.465 with five homers and 30 RBIs in 52 games.

“It’s exciting,” said Kubel, who is 2-for-4 in his career against Tigers right-hander Max Scherzer. “I feel like I’m not starting over, but in a way, kinda because it’s been nearly two months. I’m looking forward to it.”
