Twins lineup vs. Phillies
FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Twins cleared up more space on their 40-man roster this morning, releasing right-hander Joel Zumaya.
It comes as somewhat as a surprise, as the Twins could’ve simply placed him on the 60-day disabled list this season. But they decided to release him on the day before he’s set to undergo Tommy John surgery instead.
Along with the decision to send Rule 5 Draft pick Terry Doyle back to the White Sox, the Twins now have 38 players on their 40-man roster.
Reliever Jared Burton and infielder Sean Burroughs are two notable non-roster invitees who could join the 40-man roster if they make the club.
